Nuala Polo is a Senior Policy Advisor and AI Assurance Lead at the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation (CDEI), a directorate within the UK government that works on enabling responsible innovation in AI and data driven technologies. Nuala’s work focuses on working with industry and regulators to drive the uptake of tools for trustworthy AI, like AI assurance techniques and SDO-developed standards, to operationalise and implement high-level policy principles in practice. Nuala is also a member of the British Standards Institute (BSI) ART/1 – Artificial Intelligence standards development committee. She holds an MSc Cognition in Science and Society from the University of Edinburgh.
