Germany enacted a bill legalizing automated vehicles ("AV Bill"), which modifies the current Road Traffic Act and defines the requirements for highly and fully automated vehicles to use public roads.

The Autonomous Driving Act allows motor vehicles with autonomous driving capabilities, meaning vehicles that can perform driving tasks independently without a person driving, in specified operating areas on public roads.
