AI Governance Evaluator

AI Governance Evaluator

Background.

The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence across organizations worldwide has exposed a critical gap: while AI technologies are widely deployed, formal governance frameworks remain largely absent. Research indicates that although 93% of organizations use AI in some capacity, only 7% have implemented governance frameworks and just 8% have integrated governance into their software development lifecycle. Existing standards such as the OECD AI Principles, the EU AI Act, and ISO/IEC 22989:2022 provide valuable guidance, but many organizations are unaware of them or lack the tools to assess their own compliance.

Objective.

The primary objective of this project is to develop a web application that enables organizations to identify and evaluate their AI governance maturity level, and to generate a personalized roadmap guiding them toward responsible and compliant AI adoption. To achieve this, the project analyzed national and international regulatory frameworks to define the evaluation criteria, designed a maturity model with measurable compliance metrics, built the application with all required functionalities, and validated the accuracy of its diagnostics and the clarity of its generated roadmaps through structured testing.

How to use?

The AI Governance Evaluator is a self-assessment web tool accessible at https://aigovernancevaluator.up.railway.app. Users complete a structured questionnaire that evaluates their organizational practices against criteria drawn from the OECD AI Principles, the EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 22989:2022, and Colombian national regulations. No technical expertise is required. Upon completion, the tool delivers a compliance percentage reflecting the organization's current governance maturity and a personalized step-by-step roadmap to reach full alignment with best practices. It is intended for IT leaders, compliance officers, executives, and any stakeholder involved in AI strategy or risk management.
