The Model Card Builder
The Model Card Builder is a free, browser-based tool for producing model cards for AI systems that an organisation deploys but did not develop. It adapts the model card approach, originally designed for model developers, to the position of a deploying organisation that relies on the provider's public documentation and on knowledge of its own deployment.
Users complete a form of eight sections covering the model's identity, the provider documentation used as sources, intended use in the organisation's context, provider stated capabilities and performance, documented limitations and risks, and the organisation's own deployment environment, human oversight, safeguards and monitoring. The card keeps information attributed to the provider separate from information supplied by the deploying organisation. A governance section allows users to tag the card against the functions of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and record their own risk classification under the EU AI Act.
The tool runs as a single HTML file in a web browser and requires no server or account. A live preview updates as the form is completed, and fields left blank are omitted from the finished card. Data is held only for the current session and is not stored. Completed cards can be exported as HTML, Markdown or PDF.
