PetaBencana.id Bot

PetaBencana.id Bot

Since 2017 PetaBencana.id and its Bencana Bot leverages AI to provide residents, government agencies, and first responders with a real-time disaster information sharing system at an unprecedented scale.

This tool is a real-time disaster mapping platform for Indonesia. It provides real-time disaster information sharing, enabling communities, first responders, and government agencies to coordinate responses and reduce risks. The system gathers, sorts, and displays real-time data directly from, and back to, people affected by various environmental changes. As one of the largest open-data disaster mapping platform it provides hyperlocal intelligence that enables better decision making for residents, emergency managers, first responders, and businesses.

To achieve this, PetaBencana.id uses AI-driven chatbot technology. It tracks social media and transforms it into a coordination network by detecting disaster-related posts on social media, automatically engages with affected users, and collects real-time, crowd-sourced information. The system verifies and maps this data in real-time making it available on a mobile-centric website. PetaBencana.id has been integrated into the Indonesian National Emergency Management Agency (BNPB). It provides situational awareness to both the public and emergency agencies for faster, informed response during crises.

PetaBencana provides open and customised APIs, along with data training, to help organisations, researchers, and communities leverage real-time disaster information for greater impact. The PetaBencana has been used in Jakarta, where residents have used social media to share flood updates, prompted by Bencana Bot. The chatbot invites users to report disasters details such as floods, earthquakes, volcano eruptions details, which are then mapped in real-time and accessible online for free.
