Wikifier

Wikifier

The purpose of the Wikifier is, given a short text document (e.g. a news article), to identify words or phrases in it that constitute mentions of concepts from the Wikipedia. These concepts can then be thought of a semantic annotations of the document and are a way to enrich the document representation before further processing. The Wikifier supports more than a hundred languages and can process millions of documents per day. There is a web front-end for demonstration or exploration purposes and also a JSON-based web service API that users can call from their own programs.

For more information, see: Janez Brank, Gregor Leban, Marko Grobelnik, "Semantic Annotation of Documents Based on Wikipedia Concepts".  Informatica, 42(1):23-32, March 2018.  https://www.informatica.si/index.php/informatica/article/view/2228
