Clíodhna has extensive experience designing and implementing policy on AI, innovation, evaluation and regulations. She leads the multi-agency AI & Digital Regulations Service, a collaboration between more than ten UK regulatory and governance agencies to streamline regulation and market access for AI in health and social care. As Principal Scientific Adviser for AI at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), she advises companies on proving the clinical, cost-effectiveness and safety of their AI products and has chaired national funding panels for the scale-up of AI technologies in the NHS. Since August 2023, Clíodhna has been working as a Policy Adviser at Apollo Research, a start-up focusing on evaluating the most advanced AI systems. Her current focus is on what agile regulatory ecosystems will be needed for advanced AI, combining her practical experience with Apollo’s technical expertise.
