Owen Larter
Director of AI Policy in the Office of Responsible AI - Microsoft
Owen Larter is Director of AI Policy in the Office of Responsible AI. He works on governance of safety and security risks of the most advanced systems, collaborating with engineers, researchers and policymakers to develop durable AI governance frameworks. His work focuses on building global technical and policy consensus around mechanisms to identify and mitigate AI risk. Previously Owen worked in a range of policy roles at Microsoft at the global level and in the UK. Outside of Microsoft, Owen helped co-found the Aspen Institute NextGen Policy Network, helping educate future leaders about the challenges and opportunity of emerging technology and is a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations. He has a master’s degree in international relations and policy from the London School of Economics.
