
Susan Leavy
Assistant Professor - University College Dublin
Susan Leavy is an Assistant Professor at the School of Information and Communication in University College Dublin. Her research concerns AI ethics, bias mitigation in Natural Language Processing, social impact of AI systems and digital policy. She holds a BA in Philosophy and Literature, MSc in Artificial Intelligence, an MPhil in Gender Studies and a PhD in Computer Science. She worked for a decade in technology in investment banking before moving to academia. Susan is one of Ireland’s nominees to Global Partnership on AI, where she co-leads the social media governance project. She is a participant in EU working groups on the implementation of the AI Act, an advisor to the UCD Centre for Digital Policy and is a member of the Irish Government’s AI Advisory Council.
