
Wajdi Aljedaani
- Director, AI Governance Maturity Assessment - SDAIA
Dr. Wajdi Aljedaani directs AI governance initiatives at the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), including the National AI Index (NAII), the maturity assessment of Saudi Arabia’s AI Ethics Principles, and the establishment of enabling AI Offices across government. Previously an Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas, he has more than a decade of experience in software engineering, HCI, and responsible AI. He develops practical, award-winning tools that support people with disabilities and leads efforts to assess generative AI models with a focus on fairness, inclusivity, and accessibility. His work has been recognized with the W4A Accessibility Challenge Judges’ Award (2024), the W4A Delegates’ Award (2025), and a Best Paper Award at IHC 2024, alongside an NSF-funded project on responsible generative AI. He publishes widely at venues such as CHI and W4A and contributes to national AI policy and capacity-building in Saudi Arabia.
