The Bulgarian government approved on 16 December 2020 its national AI strategic document, while also preparing specific policy reports focusing on education, training, and research.

A framework under development that will establish comprehensive standards for data management across Bulgaria's digital ecosystem. The NDGRF is established by decision of the Minister of Electronic Governance and regards the national public administration as a whole. This framework encompasses standards for data collection, quality assurance, storage protocols, and exchange mechanisms.

The INSAIT Research Programmes at Sofia University advance research in computer science and AI, hosting over 20 international researchers. They provide competitive internships for students worldwide and focus on areas such as AI, machine learning, robotics, and computer vision.

A specialised programme in partnership with “Prof. Asen Zlatarov” University in Bulgaria focuses on enhancing teachers’ digital competencies. It aims to train 225 teachers in the use of augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) software for educational purposes, helping them create more engaging and interactive learning experiences.

A comprehensive training initiative offering civil servants' practical education in AI applications through multiple formats including self-learning e-modules, face-to-face training, and interactive workshops. The program focuses on practical applications of AI in public administration and HR management.
