The AfCFTA strives to create a more harmonized framework to promote Africa's digitalization and the development of digital-related industries and trade in digital products.
The Continental Artificial Intelligence Strategy, adopted by the African Union in July 2024, aims to harness AI for Africa’s socio-economic transformation and sustainable development in line with Agenda 2063. It proposes a five-year implementation period (2025–2030) and sets out policy actions to maximise benefits, build capabilities, minimise risks, stimulate investment and foster regional and international cooperation.
This framework sets out a common vision, principles, strategic priorities and key recommendations to guide African countries in developing their national data systems and capabilities to effectively use and derive value from data.
Recognizing the efforts of the continent's leadership to prioritize and accelerate digital transformation, and building on the vision of many African leaders, African countries are ready for a comprehensive digital transformation strategy to guide a common, coordinated response to reap the benefits of the fourth industrial revolution
