As affirmed in the G7 Leaders' Declaration, the AI Hub aims to enable multi-stakeholder partnerships to support local AI digital ecosystems, strengthen capacities to advance AI for sustainable development, and complement existing initiatives including the AI for Development Donors Partnership.
The G7 Hiroshima Process on Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) was initiated during Japan's G7 Presidency in May 2023. This process aimed to develop a comprehensive policy framework addressing the opportunities and challenges posed by generative AI. This led to the creation of the Hiroshima AI Process (HAIP) Reporting Framework, which was launched in February 2025.
