Background including shifts in the policy initiative:
  • The ‘National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence’ established in 2019 stipulates ‘Preparation of AI code of ethics, and development and dissemination of ethics education curriculum’. This guideline is to set the ethical standards of artificial intelligence at the government level for the implementation of the national AI strategy.
Artificial intelligence technology is expected to improve the quality of life of the people through new innovative products and services as well as enhancing productivity in the industry as a whole. However, it also has potential risk factors such as data bias, discrimination by algorithms, and a breach of privacy during the development and utilization process. The establishment of ethics in the field of artificial intelligence will contribute to the promotion of the artificial intelligence industry in the growing stage by securing social trust in artificial intelligence technology.
