Dyslexia presents unique challenges for students pursuing higher education, impacting their academic performance and overall learning experience. BeSpecial offers an innovative, AI-powered solution tailored to the needs of university students with dyslexia. As part of the European VRAILEXIA initiative and developed by the University of Tuscia, BeSpecial integrates multiple data sources, including clinical reports, self-evaluation questionnaires, and psychometric assessments, to generate personalised recommendations for learning support.

The platform’s AI modules analyse each student's profile to suggest specific digital tools such as audiobooks, concept maps, and speech synthesis, alongside best practices like personalised tutoring and adapted examination procedures. This individualised approach helps students overcome learning barriers and improves their academic outcomes.

Beyond personalised support, BeSpecial serves as a valuable resource for universities by offering training paths to raise awareness about dyslexia among teaching staff and peers. It promotes the adoption of inclusive education strategies, ensuring that institutions are better equipped to accommodate diverse learning needs.

Designed to be multi-platform, BeSpecial ensures accessibility across devices and academic contexts, enabling students to access support anytime, anywhere. Its recognition by the International Research Centre in Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI) highlights its ethical foundations and commitment to quality education and reduced inequalities.
