ETUI AI boardgame

ETUI AI boardgame

A journey into the AI and the world of work. The ETUI AI game has been developed using foresight principles. It combines horizon-scanning, long-term strategic thinking, roleplay and immersive scenarios to identify concerns for the different players and come up with plausible solutions. It is developed to create a structured environment that allows the learners/players to experience various dimensions of AI.

The AI board game's primary objective is to facilitate and strengthen social dialogue by empowering workers, along with other stakeholders, to build their capacity, improve their understanding around the challenges posed by AI, and help in negotiations processes.

The ETUI AI boardgame was designed to be used by workers’ representatives, trade union trainers, EWC members, digitalisation officers, social partners and anyone who would like to explore the concepts and applications of AI at workplace and be prepared for negotiations.

The game has 3 immersive components:

  • Part 1: Map AI at the work. It familiarizes players by acquainting them with essential AI-related terminology, related technologies and uses across various sectors and incite them to identify the risks and opportunities when implemented the different technologies.
  • Part 2: Play the game. Participants assume the roles of different stakeholders including trade unions, employers, government authorities, parents, AI developers, citizens, EdTech companies, environmental associations, workers, consumers, etc. Through interactive discussions, players will explore a wide array of critical topics, including automated decision-making, privacy, data protection, explainability, algorithmic management, safety, surveillance, and more. They will also address thought-provoking workplace related scenarios and collaborate to uncover plausible and collective solutions.
  • Part 3: Guide on AI: discovering the many faces of a faceless technology. It is a hands-on tool to help map AI, strengthen critical thinking and support anyone involved in negotiating the deployment of AI systems
