Cheryl (Flynn) Brooks is a Principal Inventive Scientist in the Data Science and AI Research organization at AT&T.  Since joining AT&T in 2014, Cheryl has been the technical lead on several data science and ML projects focused on algorithmic fairness, data privatization, and network modeling. She was a founding member of AT&T’s Responsible AI team and is one of the lead researchers for the development of AT&T’s internal bias evaluation platform.  She has extensive experience working on industrial-scale data problems and has published several technical papers in the areas of fairness, privacy, ML, and statistics. She has served as an officer for the ASA’s Statistical Computing and Statistical Learning and Data Science Sections and has been on the program committee for several conferences, including the 2024 SLDS conference and JSM 2023.  She earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from NYU, and her BA in Economics and Mathematics from McGill University.
