Frank Ryan

Frank Ryan is an Associate at The Future Society, where he conducts research and advisory work on policy for advanced AI systems, particularly large language models (LLMs). His expertise supports organizations such as the United Nations, OECD, European Union, and various U.S. entities, including USAID, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Commerce. Frank is a co-author of a leading AI policy report for the EU AI Act and a member of the United States AI Safety Institute task force on risk mitigation for generative AI. He previously worked as a Research Assistant at the MIT Work of the Future Taskforce and completed research fellowships at the Sierra Leone Directorate for Science, Technology, and Innovation, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). He also worked for several years as a data scientist at various technology startups. Frank holds master’s degrees in Technology Policy from MIT and in Computer Science and Philosophy from Durham University. He is currently based in Taiwan and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
