Gefion Thuermer
Technical and Scientific Coordinator - Impetus
Dr Gefion Thuermer received her PhD in Web Science from the University of Southampton, with a thesis about the effects of online participation processes. She currently works on Impetus, a Horizon Europe project that provides resources, support and recognition for citizen science initiatives across Europe. In Impetus, Gefion is the technical and scientific coordinator, with responsibility for overall project delivery, and the open calls to recruit citizen science projects. Gefion is also engaged in ongoing work with Westminster City Council to establish a data-sharing and governance framework for the Strand-Aldwych redevelopment. Previously, she worked on ACTION, where she oversaw the development of a toolkit for citizen science; on MediaFutures, where she coordinated work in support of start-ups and artists developing data-driven solutions to tackle misinformation, along with a toolkit for data innovation; and on Data Pitch, where she was responsible for producing a data sharing toolkit summarising the key lessons learned from the project.
