Enterprise AI Governance Lead - AstraZeneca
Oliver Patel is the Enterprise AI Governance Lead at AstraZeneca, a global pharmaceutical company with 80,000+ employees. In this role, Oliver leads the Global Enterprise AI Governance function, which works to ensure that AstraZeneca maximises the opportunities of AI whilst managing the risks. This includes developing and implementing the framework of policies, standards and processes which ensure that AI is developed, procured and used in a responsible and trustworthy way, in compliance with global AI regulations.
Oliver was previously Director of Public Policy at Holistic AI, an AI risk management company. He was also Head of Inbound Data Flows for the UK government, where he led efforts to deliver EU-UK data transfer agreements. Prior to this, he spent several years as an academic and policy researcher at University College London. Oliver’s expertise lies at the intersection of AI governance and risk, data and technology policy.
