Roberto Lattanzi
Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department - Italian Data Protection Authority
Roberto Lattanzi, PhD, is the Head of the “Artificial Intelligence Department” at the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) Previously he has been the Head of the following Departments: Research & Study; Electronic Communication, Telecommunication and Freedom of Opinion; Department for Industry and Business Matters. He has also served as seconded national expert at the European Data Protection Supervisor.
He has been designated by the Italian Government as representative in the Convention on artificial intelligence negotiated at the Council of Europe.
Since 2018 he is professor on contract of Privacy Law at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Milan.
He has authored scientific articles, especially in the data protection field, and was appointed as «Marie Curie Fellow» under the European Commission Training and Mobility of Researchers Programme, doing studies at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg.
Admitted to the Bar of Piacenza, he is ethics expert of the European Commission – DG Research.
