Rocio is a dual-qualified lawyer in Europe and the UK, and the Legal Director of Global Privacy and AI Public Policy at OpenText. With over 20 years of experience, she built a distinguished career as external counsel at leading law firms, leading global privacy compliance projects. In the past decade, her expertise expanded to blockchain, machine learning, and AI governance, focusing on risk management, transparency, and accountability.
Rocio has advised both public and private sectors, including central government projects, providing strategic guidance on emerging technologies’ legal landscape. She contributes to industry publications, including the UK chapter of AI, Machine Learning & Big Data (2019 edition) by Global Legal Group, and is involved in drafting AI frameworks and Codes of Conduct. Rocio serves on expert panels for the Council of Europe Data Protection Unit and the European Data Protection Board and is a regular speaker and contributor to academic publications.
