Dr. Krüppel has a background in physics and neuroscience and obtained his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bonn, Germany. He was responsible for the strategy on high-performance computing at the German federal ministry for education and research. He is a member of the governing boards of the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing and the EuroHPC joint undertaking. He has an excellent overview of the R&I ecosystem and computing infrastructures in Europe. His focus is on enabling HPC for new applications, especially in the field of AI and big data.
