
Toshiya Jitsuzumi

Toshiya Jitsuzumi is a Professor at the Faculty of Policy Studies, Chuo University in Tokyo, and a distinguished expert in the economics of Artificial Intelligence and digital policy. Professor Jitsuzumi has played a key role in shaping global AI governance. As a Vice-Chair of the OECD’s Committee on Digital Economy Policy (CDEP), he contributed to the discussion on the OECD Recommendation on Artificial Intelligence. He continues this work on a global scale as an expert for the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), promoting the responsible and human-centric development and use of AI. His research delves into the economic aspects of telecommunications, internet policy, and platform regulation. A prolific author and speaker, he has published many papers and delivered presentations on AI. His recent work examines international AI governance, including comparative analyses of regulatory frameworks and emerging ethical challenges. He is a strong proponent of developing AI that augments human intelligence, ensuring technological advancement is grounded in fairness, transparency, and trust. Professor Jitsuzumi holds a Doctorate from Waseda University, an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo.
