Uma Kalkar is a Policy Advisor at Longview Philanthropy supporting the OECD Strategic Foresight Unit’s emerging global risks policy portfolio on AI, biotechnology, international regulatory cooperation, and anticipatory innovation.
Uma’s policy expertise has been consulted by The Economist Impact and the Global Index for Responsible AI, featured in Forbes, and recognized by the Aspen Institute, the Biden Administration, and CIRCLE at Tufts. In 2020, Uma relaunched 18by Vote, an American youth-serving civic nonprofit, which has to date reached over 2.3 million young people and helped register over 10,000 new voters in the previous presidential election. She has previously held positions in think tanks and social impact groups working on data and AI governance and long-term macroeconomic resilience strategies.
