Director of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications (IIΤ) at NCSR Demokritos, Member of the Advisory AI Committee to the Greek Prime Minister and Member of the National Bioethics & Technoethics Commission. My research interests are in the areas of content analysis, big data management, knowledge representation, human machine interaction. Coordinator, scientific and technical manager of many European and national projects, among which the major on-going EU-funded projects around the European AI on Demand platform (AIoD), such as the recently started Digital Europe DeployAI project on the use of AIoD by the European industry, the H2020 AI4Copernicus on the use of AIoD in earth observation applications, the HE AI4Europe, as well as the EDIH SmartAttica and the HE CHANGER project on research ethics with a focus on AI. Organiser of numerous international conferences, workshops and summer schools, as well as of postgraduate programs on AI and Data Science.
