Costa Rica's National AI Strategy aims to promote the ethical, safe, and responsible use of AI for the benefit of its citizens. Its objectives include developing regulatory frameworks, strengthening skills, fostering R&D&I, improving public services, and enhancing competitiveness. Its strategic pillars focus on ethics, territorial development, capacity building, infrastructure, innovation, and international leadership.

This guideline is meant to implement accessible websites in the Costa Rican public sector.

Proposed in August 2024, this bill seeks to establish a national framework for the responsible use, development and regulation of AI systems. The bill was introduced to ensure ethical, transparent, and secure AI adoption. It applies to public and private sectors, mandates transparency, risk-based oversight, and prohibits harmful practices like subliminal manipulation and unauthorized use of personal data or likeness.
