The Danish government's vision is that developing and using AI should always be citizen-centric. The Danish government's vision is that developing and using AI should always be citizen-centric. Danish companies must be globally competitive, and Denmark should be a world leader in using AI in the public sector. The strategic Approachsets up three guiding principles and initiate four new national initiatives for the usage and development of responsible AI.

The initiative will develop and test AI assistants that help municipal and regional employees automatically document, journalise and take minutes in relation to specific categories of meetings or case handling. It is intended to benefit the public administration by saving time and improving accuracy. Additionally, it will help reduce manual paperwork, minimise errors and free officials to focus on decision-making and citizen services.

Local Government Denmark (KL), which represents municipalities, has established this centre to collect and help share knowledge about digitalisation and help explore how new technologies, including AI, can be applied and create value in municipalities, and identify emerging challenges. It also provides action-oriented guidance and tools on topics ranging from security to IT procurement and framework architecture. KL has also launched an AI school for managers, executives, and politicians.

Under the research and development programme “Grønt Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprojekt” (GUDP), there are several examples of projects funded that investigate AI-based solutions in agriculture. GUDP supports the development and demonstration of knowledge and technologies that can make the food sector of the future greener. The second application round in 2025 with a focus on reducing emissions and nitrogen is now open for applications.
