Initiative overview

Latvia’s introduction of an AI-based virtual assistant in the healthcare sector marked a regional first in the Baltics. Beyond handling patient inquiries, the project was framed as part of a broader government agenda to integrate conversational AI into public services. By piloting the technology in a medical institution, the initiative aimed to demonstrate how AI could reduce administrative bottlenecks, improve service delivery, and set a precedent for scaling digital assistants across other sectors of public governance.
