Established in 2022, these service centres provide advanced computing infrastructure and tailored services to support AI application development, particularly for SMEs and academic institutions that lack such resources. Initiative overview

Since November 2022, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research funds four AI Service Centers. Its aims are:(1) to facilitate access to AI compute infrastructure and AI expertise for users from academia and business;(2) to increase the availability of AI computing power in Germany;(3) to conduct cutting-edge research in the field of AI;(4) to ensure the transfer of AI into practice through low-threshold and agile services;(5) to strengthen the cooperation of science and business;(6) to enable research institutions and companies, especially SMEs, to use AI applications, understand them, further develop them and incorporate them into their processes.Objectives:Offer access to AI compute infrastructure and AI expertise.Foster the transfer of AI solutions into applications, especially by SME.Conduct leading edge research on AI.Offer customized services for academia and business.
