Initiative overview
The Flemish Government focuses on the regular support of RDI (Research & Development and Innovation), the ICON projects (interdisciplinary research in cooperation) and the COOCK and TETRA projects (collective research and development and dissemination/collective transfer) to enable the research results of research organisations around the world of business to find their way. The Baekeland and innovation mandates are an effective way to bridge the gap between research and business and to ensure the implementation of research in companies. The Flemish Government also wants to provide advice and raise awareness through other initiatives to stimulate the diffusion of knowledge on AI. In the context of the renewal of the Enterprise Contract, particular attention will be paid to the topic of digitalisation and AI in particular. Through these actions, a network of coaches will be set up, able to advise and guide businesses in their implementation of AI.Imec.istart is an initiative that supports start-ups to develop their business idea. Start-ups participating in this initiative receive financial support and are entitled to support. In addition, the imec facilities are also available to start-ups that can make intensive use of the network of partners and investors.In the context of the Blikopener of Higher Schools project, (https://www.blikopener.vlaanderen) special attention is also paid to the first line accompaniment of businesses in the field of AI. The front-office of the VLAIO has been reinforced with specific AI expertise to provide even better guidance to businesses on AI.
