Initiative overview
Launched in December 2022, Romania's competitive call for digitalisation projects in higher education focuses on three main areas:
- Digital Infrastructure Modernisation. Universities are investing in:
- Modernising laboratories and computing centres
- Establishing innovation hubs and start-up incubation centres
- Developing digital libraries
- Designing and adapting resources for online learning and assessment
- Digital Skills Training. The initiative supports:
- Training programmes for students, teaching, and research staff to enhance digital competencies
- Development of learning modules and study programmes for emerging professions
- Advanced Digital Skills Development. Focused on IT specialists, the programme aims to:
- Develop advanced skills in emerging technologies such as AI, Blockchain, and IoT
- Increase the added value of services and products developed by Romanian IT&C companies
- Enhance the competitiveness of the Romanian IT sector
The projects selected under this call are currently in the implementation phase, with an extended deadline for completion set to December 31, 2025.
