Initiative overview
The National System of Productive Transformation and Competitiveness - Transforma Uruguay - was created with the purpose of promoting productive and innovative economic development, with sustainability, equity, and social, environmental, and territorial balance.The initiative has the following objectives:To improve the availability at the national level of present and future human resources with competences in data science and its applications, adapting and improving training capacities at the different formal and non-formal educational levels, through a flexible and decentralized training model.To strengthen the tools for stimulating R&D and developing instruments suitable to support and consolidate data science and ML research and innovation at the national level.To develop measures to promote and facilitate criteria that give guarantees and confidence to society about the forms of application and proper use of these technologies, ensuring the protection of their rights, avoiding biases, discrimination and other possible negative impacts and favoring people's capacities against the resolution of ethical dilemmas.To promote the incorporation of data science and ML in the productive, commercial and commercial sectors, and strategic services (public and private) to improve its operation, impact capacity, and productivity and to strengthen its competitiveness in the regional and global market.To promote the incorporation of data science and ML into the public sector as a priority policy for the development of digital government and improvement in the quality and efficiency of public services.
