Initiative overview

The Digital Culture Curriculum is a national education initiative in Hungary designed to ensure that young people gain early exposure to artificial intelligence concepts. By embedding AI into the curriculum for grades five and eleven, it fosters basic technological literacy and prepares students for a future shaped by digital technologies.

To ensure high-quality instruction, the initiative also provides teacher training programmes. These courses equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to teach AI concepts effectively, ensuring consistency and depth across schools.

The curriculum aims to:

  • Introduce core AI principles and digital competencies at an early age
  • Prepare students to navigate and shape the digital future responsibly
  • Support educators with continuous training and professional development

Looking ahead, the programme may expand to additional grade levels and subjects, deepening AI education across Hungary’s school system and strengthening the pipeline of digitally literate, AI-aware citizens.
