In June 2023, in collaboration with industry body techUK, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) launched the Portfolio of AI Assurance Techniques. The Portfolio features real-world case studies of AI assurance mechanisms being applied by organisations across a range of sectors.The Portfolio is a helpful resource for anyone involved in designing, developing, deploying or procuring AI-enabled systems.

Initiative overview

In 2022, DSIT engaged with industry to gauge attitudes towards and engagement with AI assurance techniques and technical standards. The outcome of this engagement was reported in the DSIT Industry Temperature Check, which identified key barriers and enablers to AI assurance and set out clear interventions that government and others can make to overcome these barriers. Following publication of the Industry Temperature Check, DSIT developed the DSIT Portfolio of AI Assurance Techniques to address some of the barriers identified in the report.The initiative has the following objective(s):The Portfolio is designed to support industry, including start-ups and SMEs to identify relevant assurance techniques and standards for their context of use.
