Initiative overview

The Latvian Genome Database, managed by the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre, collects and analyses biological material and health data to support genomics and precision medicine research. As part of a wider European effort, Latvia is sequencing thousands of local samples to contribute to a reference genome resource, which will enable more accurate research into genetic variation and disease predisposition. The initiative also supports international collaboration by ensuring compatibility with other biobanks and research infrastructures.
