Initiative overview

The Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) was established in 2018 through the MDIA Act. and the Authority servesas the national focal point which directs and facilitates the secure and optimal uptake of digital innovation and aims to strengthen digital skills, AI literacy and awareness in digital innovation through the various schemes, initiatives and events..The MDIA also acts as the lead authority for EU AI Act and a prospective market surveillance authority for AI and is also responsible for the developments and implementation of Malta`s National AI startegy and provides voluntary recognition for innovative technologies and service providers.
