Based on the Digital Transformation Guidelines 2021–2027, Latvia has set out measures to update its approach to open data management. The initiative is framed around improving access to and use of public data with the intention of generating broader societal and economic value.

Planned activities include adjustments to standards for formats, metadata, and interoperability, alongside efforts to encourage reuse of datasets by different stakeholders. These steps are expected to support the gradual development of a more coordinated national data ecosystem.
