Mark Durkee has contributed a blog post to the AI Wonk. He is Head of Tech, Assurance & Good Practice at the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation (CDEI). He leads a portfolio of work including the CDEI’s recently published review into bias in algorithmic decision-making, and technically-focused projects on AI assurance and privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs). Prior to joining the CDEI in 2019, he worked for the UK government in a variety of technology strategy, architecture and cybersecurity roles. He has also worked as a software engineer and completed a PhD in Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge.
