National Programme on Artificial Intelligence
The National programme to promote the development and use of AI in the Republic of Slovenia by 2025 (NpAI) was adopted in May 2021 as the country’s national AI strategy. The NpAI has been designed to support research, development and uptake of ethical and trustworthy AI, assuring safety and human rights in a user-centric way that benefits humans and society, based on Slovenia’s long-time research experience and capacity in AI.

Use of AI in Business Intelligence System - Skrinja
The Ministry of Digital Transformation is planning to introduce AI-based predictive analytics into the Business intelligence system Skrinja (‘box’), which is used by different public authorities to analyse data about their policy area, like public sector salaries, public tenders and administrative procedures, supporting data-driven decisions in real time in public administration.

Single Horizontal AI Platform
The Ministry of Digital Transformation has developed the pilot prototype “Semantični analizator” (Semantic Analyser), an open-source tool using AI techniques to process natural language. Building on these experiences, a single horizontal AI platform is planned for development to facilitate the processing of both public and non-public data. The platform will be modular, flexible, scalable, and upgradeable, ensuring adaptability to the diverse needs and requirements of individual authorities.

AI Competence Center
Slovenia is planning to establish a national Competence Center for Artificial Intelligence, led by the Ministry of Digital Transformation. The center will advance AI research, innovation, and practical applications across industries and public services. It will also act as a one-stop-shop to help SMEs adopt AI solutions.
