The aim of this project is to establish a secure environment for testing and using generative and other AI technologies, taking into account data protection and information security, and to make this technology available to research, teaching and administration. In addition, an experimental open source environment will be made available on the MUSICA server, in particular to train specific models and develop new innovative services for teaching, research and university administration.

Initiative overview
The "Academic AI Services" project has three objectives:1. To create a safe environment for the testing, use and further development of (generative) AI technologies in the university context in order to allowteachers, researchers and students in the field of AI to benefit from the latest technologies. These technologies are to be made available taking into accountdata protection and information security (Academic AI).2. The provision of an open-source AI platform for the development of new AI models as well as access to the MUSICA platform for computationallyintensive tasks (e.g. training of models) (Experimental Services). But also know-how that helps with implementation on the MUSICA platform (e.g. hostingand operating training/inference/evaluation services, a comprehensive range of training courses, specific consulting). The process will be accompanied byextensive monitoring and regular audits to ensure that both the (sensitive) data, the research processes and the results are protected from unauthorized access.In order to facilitate international cooperation for researchers, it is to be ensured that the solutions developed are compatible with European developments.3. Resources to promote innovative AI projects at Universities. In these projects, universities are to work cooperatively to solve problems in teaching,research and administration with the help of AI methods. Typical projects could be chatbots, automation administration processes, preparation of lecturenotes, Student tutor, chatbots for lectures, automated creation of exam questions, automatic exam pre-correction, multilingual lecture content, furtherdevelopment in the field of learning analytics, etc
