Over the next two years, the AEXCIA platform, an AI-powered consumer experience management tool, will automate the handling of citizens’ complaints and information requests while analysing consumer behaviour, particularly on social networks. Designed to enhance efficiency, AEXCIA will support regulatory and supervisory activities by providing insights into consumer satisfaction and company conduct, ultimately improving consumer experience management through advanced AI capabilities.

Initiative overview

The AEXCIA platform is being developed to help regulators manage the growing number of consumer complaints and requests, which are often too complex and numerous for traditional systems to handle efficiently. Citizens increasingly use digital channels and social media to voice concerns, and this creates both opportunities to better understand public sentiment and challenges in processing large volumes of data.

AEXCIA’s main goal is to strengthen consumer protection by automating the intake and processing of complaints while also analysing patterns in consumer behaviour. Portugal’s communications regulator (ANACOM) will use it to support supervisory work, improve oversight of service providers, and design policies that better reflect consumer needs. By reducing manual work and providing actionable insights, the tool aims to increase both efficiency and transparency.
