The Austrian AI Advisory Board consists of eleven members from academia, civil society, industry and public administration. Its tasks include advising the Austrian government and the AI service desk on developments related to AI, including technical, ethical and societal aspects and prioritising topics in the field of AI, as well as strategic planning and advice in relation to the Austrian AI strategy.

The Advisory Board for Artificial Intelligence (AI Advisory Board “ KI-Beirat) was constituted on February 28th 2024. The eleven members of the AI Advisory Board are proven experts in the field of AI and have excellent knowledge in the areas of ethics, research, economics, law and technology. The AI Advisory Board will advise the Federal Government on issues relating to AI and pool knowledge on AI as a whole. An administrative support office for the AI Advisory Board is located at the Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR-GmbH), which is also home to Austria's AI Service Desk.The AI Advisory Board's tasks include:- Advising and informing the Federal Government on technical, social and ethical issues relating to artificial intelligence- Observing the technological development of AI and assessing the associated opportunities and risks for Austria- Supporting the federal government in prioritizing and focusing on AI topics and measures- Strategic advice to the federal government in the context of development and implementation of Austria's AI strategy AIM AT 2020 and the associated implementation plans
