Initiative overview
A new non-profit consortium is working to bring the benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into healthcare. Coordinated by the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Croatia, the group includes 15 partners from research, healthcare, and the startup world. Their shared goal is to use AI to improve medical care—by supporting faster diagnosis, better treatment decisions, and more efficient healthcare systems.
The project is funded equally by the EU’s Digital Europe Programme and the Next Generation EU fund, with a three-year funding period. By combining expertise from public and private sectors, the consortium aims to develop practical AI tools, help startups scale health innovations, and make sure new technologies meet ethical and safety standards.
Looking ahead, the group plans to expand its work across Europe—by building new partnerships, sharing results, and supporting training and pilot projects. The initiative offers a promising model for how AI can be used responsibly to support better healthcare for all.
