ARIS (Advanced Research Information System) is the most powerful computing system in Greece for scientific applications. It was launched in July 2015 by GRNET S.A. under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance, offering a powerful research tool to the Greek scientific community. The ARIS computing system today has a maximum theoretical computing power of 535 TFlop/s (i.e. it can perform 535 trillion mathematical operations/sec) and offers multiple data processing capabilities.
Initiative overview
The ARIS (Advanced Research Information System) infrastructure addresses the need for high-performance computing (HPC) to support scientific research and innovation in Greece. It leverages the opportunity to enhance computational capabilities for complex scientific applications across various fields. Objectives:Provide powerful computational resources to Greek researchers and scientists.Support a wide range of scientific fields, including computational chemistry, physics, biology, and engineering.Enhance Greece's competitiveness in scientific research and technological development.Since its deployment in 2015, ARIS has evolved by expanding its computational nodes and enhancing its performance. It has continuously updated its infrastructure to meet the growing demands of the scientific community.
