The Brazilian Open Data Portal, also known as the National Data Catalog, is Brazil's central platform for accessing public data published by federal and local governments. Launched on 4 May 2012 by the Ministry of Planning, it enables citizens, researchers, and developers to find, download, and reuse government datasets.

Initiative overview

Its governance was formalised  by Decree No. 8777 of 11 May 2016, which established the Open Data National Policy and made the publication of Open Data Plans obligatory for all federal ministries and agencies.
