Initiative overview

This Austrian project aims to make better use of health data by securely linking information from hospitals, telemedicine services, and the national death registry. At the moment, these data sources are separate, making it hard to apply machine learning or artificial intelligence effectively in healthcare or research. The project addresses this by building a federated infrastructure, which allows data to be used across systems without moving or duplicating it.

The main goal is to support AI-based research and improve routine care, such as predicting health risks or personalising treatment. Data stays with the original institutions, but can be accessed securely under strict rules to protect privacy. Hospitals, digital health providers, researchers, and public authorities are all involved in building and using this system.
