Initiative overview
As the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) skills grows, Spain is working to make AI education more accessible to young people. One of the main barriers for students is the cost of university tuition, especially in specialized areas like AI. To address this, a national programme has been launched to reduce financial obstacles and encourage more students to enter this high-demand field.
The initiative will finance up to 80% of enrollment fees for around 8,000 young people studying AI at universities across Spain—both public and private. Its main goal is to increase the number of trained professionals in AI and related areas, while also ensuring that access to education is not limited by personal financial circumstances.
The programme is managed at the national level and works in collaboration with universities. Students who meet the eligibility criteria can apply through their institution to receive this tuition support. This direct financial assistance helps broaden participation in AI studies and supports a more diverse and skilled future workforce.
