The Global Dialogue on AI Governance, established by the United Nations General Assembly following the Global Digital Compact, is a platform for governments and stakeholders to convene on AI governance. Launched in September 2025, with its first session in July 2026, it aims to foster international cooperation, share best practices and enable open, inclusive discussions to ensure the benefits and governance of AI are shared globally.

Initiative overview

The Global Dialogue on AI Governance provides a platform within the United Nations for ongoing consultations among Member States and stakeholders, including academia, the private sector and civil society. Its themes are shaped through global input, covering areas such as AI impacts, capacity-building, governance interoperability, and human rights.

It includes structured sessions, written submissions and future meetings, supporting continued international engagement on AI governance.
