A strategy that seeks to recognise and strengthen the AI ecosystem in Mexico to maintain an open dialogue on AI and its impacts, with a comprehensive, plural, and multidisciplinary perspective, and with the participation of the different stakeholders and society in general; having as main objective: "AI for the benefit of humanity and as a transversal axis for the sustainable development of Mexico".

Initiative overview

ANIA was launched by the Mexican Senate to be an inclusive, open, plural, and objective space for the analysis of AI advances, from a scientific and technological point of view, as well as for the review and analysis of the opportunities, challenges, and risks of the use of AI in the different sectors and activities of individuals, organisations and society in general.The initiative has the following objectives:Develop discussion processes on the different aspects of AI:a) Public policy,b) Governance of AI in the public and private sectors,c) Regulation and ethical aspects,d) AI for the 2030 Agenda, and as a transversal axis for different sectors: human rights, education, labour, transport and mobility, energy, environment, health, economy and finance, agriculture, telecommunications, culture, and entertainment, among others.
